Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival blew us away in 2016. The inaugural edition of the festival offered huge headliners (Mumford and Sons, Bassnectar, Avett Brothers, Hall and Oats, Skrillex, Kendrick Lamar, Odesza), a solid undercard (Kamasi Washington, Lotus, Portugal, the Man, The Struts, Big Gigantic), a beach stage and a jungle stage. The temperature was beyond perfect (80’s during the day, 50’s at night). The entry and exit were efficient and smooth. And then this happened…
THE SECOND ANNUAL OKEECHOBEE MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL
ANNOUNCES INITIAL 2017 LINEUP
& MANY MORE
Soungslinger and all their sound-slinging pals are returning for their second annual Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival in Okeechobee, Florida. The first bonanza earlier this year was a slam dunk and on March 3-5 of 2017, they look to jam it again.
Okeechobee is held in a 600-acre wonderland called Sunshine Grove, and they make their intense love of the natural landscape very plain. They’ve stated that they’re using as many bio-degradable, recyclable, and repurposed materials as they possibly can to respect the land and keep the Grove groovy.
Without any further ado, here’s Okeechobee’s announcement:
What separates Okee from the other manic pack of festival wolves is their everyone’s-welcome lineup. Last year, they had headliners like Mumford & Sons, Kendrick Lamar, Robert Plant and Skrillex. If anyone says it isn’t their kind of music, tell them they’re uninvited for being ig’nant. There truly is something for everyone here, and there’s no better place for all kinds of people different in their tunes but the same in their hearts to come together than under a Florida sun. This year, we’ve got Kings of Leon, Usher performing with The Roots, Bassnectar, The Lumineers, Wiz Khalifa, Young the Giant, Cold War Kids, Waka Flocka… What kind of festival is this???
More artists will be added as time keeps a-rollin. We’ll keep you updated, so keep your eyes peeled.
Another thing we’re losing sleep over is their surprise unannounced PoWow! It’s going to be a bunch of special guests jamming together. A surprise lineup. An unknown setlist. Get it? This could be magic in the making. The names mashing in this “mashup collaboration” are yet to be uttered, but believe us: we’ll be there when it happens.
