Fifth Harmony is down one woman. Singer Camila Cabello is will no longer perform with the a girl pop sensations.
What does this mean for the future of Fifth Harmony? We assumed a name change would be in order, but they will take it a different direction.
After four and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well….We are excited to announce that we will be moving forward with the four of us – Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui – for our fans. We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony, as well as our solo endeavors.”
This is not the first time rumors of a breakup have circulated. Internal feuding has been a common place in Fifth Harmony. In September things came to a head when Cabello left a show in Missouri midway through due to an anxiety attack. four fiths of the band, which now makes up the group stayed the course and finished the show. Later in the month, a number of European tour dates were cancelled. In the same month, Cabello stated that she thought the group was headed for a split.
“Honestly, I think we all do. We’d be lying if we all said this is a picture-perfect thing, like we all completely agreed on the album track list and what the sound and the music-video treatment would be like, which usually happens in bands who grew up together. But for manufactured bands, it’s harder.”
The singer has released several solo singles in 2016, including “Bad Things” with Machine Gun Kelly and “Power in Me.”
The remaining members of Fifth Harmony have announced a new album as of December 9. Read the statement below.
