The popularity of the Fast and the Furious franchise is one of world wide success. The newest installment, The Fate Of The Furious, is topping box offices globally with $685 million worldwide after weekend two. And now the executives behind the films are discussing a new franchise pairing Jason Stathm and the highest paid actor on the planet, The Rock.
Deadline Hollywood reports:
The franchise architects have said they might broaden the universe with spinoffs, and source said this is the one they are pursuing. This is in early stages, but they’ve met on the concept, which sources said will be scripted by Chris Morgan, the chief writer of the series that is hitting new heights with the eighth installment.
The new series will follow The Rock’s character, US Diplomatic Security Agent Luke Hobbs, as he joins forces with Jason Statham’s Decker Shaw. This film might even release before the next Fast and the Furious.
