Vanderbuilt University’s Rites of Spring has become a time honored tradition for students, boasting prices for those enrolled at a mere $15/day. It jumps slightly for non-students at $40/day or $45/weekend. This year’s lineup includes The Shins, Johnnyswim, and St. Lucia on Friday (April 21) and Rae Sremmurd, Ty Dolla Sign, Amine, and Romario on Saturday (April 22).
On Friday (April 21), local favorites and major acts to watch, Johnnyswim took the stage during on and off again rain, though their moods were not dampened at all by the music. Their 60 minute set drew the crowds in and had even the newest of fans singing along by the end. Check out our video of their hit “Diamonds.”
St. Lucia came to get down. The dance party kicked in the second they took the stage and didn’t let up for a minute. Fans were treated to all of their major hits including “Elevate”, “Dancing on Glass”, “Physical”, “Love Somebody”, and “Help Me Run Away.” Check out our video of “Physical.”
The Shins are one of those magical acts that fit anywhere in a lineup. Much like Wilco or Ryan Adams, they can play before or after any act and still steal the show. Their closing duties on Friday night once again proved that they have sustainability, longevity, and raw talent.
