In one of the most exciting fall announcements of 2017, Beck has shared title and and planned month for release of his new album. According to Rolling Stone, Colors is set to be unleashed in October. The new record has been in the works for over two years, but is finally ready.
“I suppose the record could have come out a year or two ago. But these are complex songs all trying to do two or three things at once. It’s not retro and not modern. To get everything to sit together so it doesn’t sound like a huge mess was quite an undertaking.”
To bring the album to fruition, Beck enlisted producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Foo Fighters, Kelly Clarkson, Sia). He even shared the name of two of the tracks, “Fix Me” and “Up All Night,” the latter which debuted on the “FIFA 17” video game.
As to the time it took to make the album and his prevalence in the music community, he commented, “I’ve always been doing my thing,” he says. “I feel like more and more I have a sort of open passport where I just go in and go out, away from the eye of the hurricane. It’s interesting.”
