After several conflicting reports, it is with a great and overwhelming sense of sadness that we report that Tom Petty had officially passed away. He was 66.
After being found unconscious in his home in Malibu on Sunday night (October 1) due to cardiac arrest, internationally renowned singer/songwriter/everyman Tom Petty was taken to the hospital.
Petty was transported to UCLA Santa Monica hospital, but no pulse could be raised. Sources close to him describes his condition as “critical from the moment he was found.”
After being found with no brain activity, Petty has been taken off of life support.

“On behalf of the Tom Petty family, we are devastated to announce the untimely death of of our father, husband, brother, leader and friend Tom Petty. He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived. He died peacefully at 8:40 p.m. PT surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.”
