Chris Cornell passed away just over seven months ago at the age of 52, and the world still has not fully recovered. Maybe it never will. As the frontman for Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple of the Dog, Cornell brought joy into the lives of millions, and will continue to, long after he is gone.
The UCLA School of Law has announced the Chris Cornell Scholarship. It currently is floating around one million and will soon begin to help with the education of many California students.
Cornell’s widow Vicky shared the following:
“My husband and I agreed that given the opportunity of education, people have the power to change the world. UCLA School of Law is an institution known for its academic excellence and we are proud the Chris Cornell Scholarship will provide funding for future students and future leaders of the world under the leadership of Dean Mnookin and Chancellor Block.”
Tributes have been offered by several of his friends and fellow musicians including Eddie Vedder, Metallica, Live, Ryan Adams,Bush, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stoned Sour), Head and the Heart, U2, Incubus with Matt Shultz, Candlebox, Imagine Dragons, and Eric Church.
